the faded tulips are being stained by the sunlight
these photos are from yesterday afternoon
and today they are a deep shade of reddish pink
making me think of sunburned skin
when I pulled back the petals last night, I found a trail of ants, going in and coming back out will little balls of yellow pollen
I am amazed that they still flowered fully formed under the matting.
They still gave what they had to give, they still completed the cycle, without sun, with little space and air.

That's amazing. Great pictures too.
I haven't mulched yet. I will suppose. I also think I have to mow the lawn for the first time this weekend. Yay.
Hi Taffiny. I've tagged you...visit my blog for more details.
:D
Wow, so strange, and beautiful, and sad... Life finds a way, I guess.
Paul,
Mulch is good. Love the scent of gresh mown grass. Bob used to hate to cut the grass but now he has a ride on and is happy.
Akasha Savage,
Oh dear. I'll be brave and come see what I've been tagged with. :)
Vesper,
Exactly what I was thinking/feeling.
Looks lovely today in the April rain, all colors intensifying, and while all the other tulips are closed up tight, shutting out the rain, because, I suppose, she has a more limited amount of time left, her petals stand open.
