Tori Amos Winter Lyrics
Snow can wait, I forgot my mittens
Wipe my nose get my new boots on
I get a little warm in my heart when I think of winter
I put my hands in my father's glove
I run off where the drifts get deeper
Sleeping Beauty trips me with a frown
I hear a voice “you must learn to stand up
For yourself 'cause I can't always be around”
He says “when you gonna make up your mind?
When you gonna love you as much as I do?
When you gonna make up your mind?
'Cause things are gonna change so fast”
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear
Boys get discovered as winter melts
Flowers competing for the sun
Years go by and I'm here still waiting
in a clearing where some snowman was
Mirror, mirror where's the crystal palace
But I can only see myself
Skating around the truth who I am
But I know the Ice is getting thin
When you gonna make up your mind?
When you gonna love you as much as I do?
When you gonna make up your mind?
'Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear
Hair is grey and the fires are burning
So many dreams on the shelf
You say I wanted you to be proud of me
I always wanted that myself
When you gonna make up your mind?
When you gonna love you as much as I do?
When you gonna make up your mind?
'Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses have gone ahead
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change, my dear
Never change
All the white horses
(same photo because post is very related to one before it. It was Feb. both grandparents, who I lived with, had died. I would sit and listen to this song, and stare out the window, knowing my life was on the verge of changing forever, but for the moment I was still tucked into this space, still in their house, and still thinking none of it could be true, surely they were still here, just away on vacation, just at the store, any minute they would walk through the door.)
(I will have dif topic tomorrow)

Times for remembering are very special and times for changing are constant. But those that pass on never really leave us, they're always out there, watching us, waiting for us to see them too.
There's something for you over at my place.
Hugs
Vanilla,
Hi, thanks for your gentle words.
Here I come, half a world jump, with a click of the keyboard.
Beautiful words and feelings...
Love yourself, the way they loved you, knowing that you're so much richer for having them forever in your heart.
Vesper,
Thanks, and indeed I am so much richer for having had them in my life.
My Nana used to say she felt bad that she did not love the way her sister-in-law loves her family. She would say "no matter what they do or how they act, she sees them all as perfect, doesn't see any of their flaws. I see everything. I wish I didn't".
That was her great gift to me, not blind love, but love that sees, all the foibles, the true charater of those around her, and loves them anyway. Wishes parts could be better, at times gets frustrated, but loves them, eyes wide open, seeing all of.
I would rather love fully, and wholey, with all my sight, than love blindly. Maybe she felt that if her love was strong enough, it would layer over layer, glossing over, making rough edges smooth, so only perfection could be seen, each person made perfect by the viewer of such love. But I know the strength of her love, it carried me through many a storm, and I would trade it for no other kind. I have no use for someone to love a me, I am not. I wish to be seen exactly as I am, the good and the bad, and loved that way.
The love itself is the perfection.
